Responsible To: Registered Manager/Deputy Manager
Liaise with: Other Team Leaders and Senior Managers
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: –
In the absence of the Registered Manager and his/her Deputy to be responsible for all admin/child care functions within the home.
1). To discriminate effectively between those decisions which can be deferred and those which require immediate attention.
2). To make decisions in accordance with your Registered Manager and Ofsted’s expectations for the home.
3). To be fully conversant with the Keswick Care’s philosophy and policies and procedures.
4). To respect and maintain the confidential nature of the work.
To assist the Registered Managers and his/hers Deputy to promote good child care practice within the home, this will include the following:
5). Day to day supervision and guidance of staff regarding standards of care in line with the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Home and the wider implications of Keswick Road, procedures, instructions and Policies e.g. health care, children’s rights, child care law etc…
6). To play a significant role in supervision of Key Workers encouraging them to be responsible for and accountable to senior staff ensuring effective assessment monitoring, planning and evaluating decisions are made and carried out.
7). To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring specific plans are carried out.
8). To demonstrate good leadership, child care practices in your own direct work with the young people to provide a model for other staff members.
9). Keswick Care are committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of all our young people in our care. All staff have a key role and responsibility in this area.
To be directly involved in Case Planning Meetings, LAC Reviews, PEP Meetings and attend any other meetings which involves the YP in the home.
10). To compile written reports as and when necessary.
11). To actively seek the views and opinions of the Young People and provide a platform from which they can be heard.
12). To help other staff to compile reports and encourage them to involve the young people in their reviews.
13). To attend and participate in Case Planning/Reviews and PEPs as and when appropriate.
To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring specific administrative tasks are performed accurately.
14). To carry out specific tasks as delegated by the Registered Manager and his/hers Deputy.
15). To monitor and assist other staff members in carrying out their administrative duties, this includes month end/archiving and ensuring that all up to date paperwork is on file and chase professionals for any outstanding reports.
16). To be responsible for all administrative functions/operations in the absence of the Registered Manager.
To assist the Registered Manager and his/her Deputy in the management of the staff team in a manner which maximises their output and enables them to achieve their potential. To contribute to the development of Keswick Care ‘s care practices.
17). To assist the Registered Manager in disseminating information, instruction of the outcomes of these meetings to the staff team.
General Duties:
18). To perform any other reasonable tasks that the Registered Managers and his/her may ask from time to time.
19). To act as a driver whilst on shift transporting our young people to school/college/activities and shopping trips.
20). To perform sleep-in-duties as required (as per your Rota) 11 sleep in’s a month are not contracted but are an expectation.
21). Act responsibly to any negative gossiping within the home and report this immediately to your Registered Manager.
