Rate of pay: £20.51 – £22.92 per hour. Dependent on qualifications, experience and registration status

Main Purpose of the Job

  • To ensure safeguarding of all young people underpins every decision made.
  • To promote positive outcomes for young people in all aspects of their care.
  • To lead by example and maintain good professional practices in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality standards for children’s homes.
  • To beheld accountable for the safety and well-being of our young people.
  • To help create a supportive and positive environment for each young person with particular reference to his or her safety, health and education.
  • To comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policy and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.
  • To be available for telephone advice as necessary to react/attend personally if required.
  • To have a full clean driving licence

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To meet the Physical/Emotional/Social needs of Young people

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home ensuring the provision of a 24-hour, 7 day 365 days of the year service.
  • Normal hours will be Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm but there is an expectation to work above these hours at times, when necessary, to ensure the needs of the service are met.
  • To contribute to the planning, delivery and review of services within Keswick Care Ltd.
  • To monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives and to implement quality assurance systems, which reflect agreed good practice.
  • Involving children and their Carers and all stakeholders, following a joint management approach and a collective work strategy to reach the best outcomes for each child that is placed within the home.
  • To provide reflective and effective leadership to the staff team.
  • To manage resources effectively, including budgets, buildings and equipment.
  • To manage staff resources flexibly and efficiently within an agreed arrangement.
  • To co-ordinate, attend, chair all staff and children’s meeting, and further agency meetings as and when required in a professional manner.
  • To work in a co-operative manner with other agencies to achieve joint objectives and provide complementary services.
  • To ensure effective communication is maintained with all staff through written information, team briefings and management meetings.
  • To provide and ensure supervision and appraisals for all team members in accordance with agreed policies are undertaken and recorded.
  • To contribute to training strategies which reflect objectives and targets of the service and which promote and maintain a learning culture within the workplace.
  • To be part of the recruitment and selection team.
  • To provide necessary information as required and to ensure recording systems meet company and legislative requirements for finance, fire precautions and other records.
  • To maintain confidentiality, observe and ensure compliance within data protection guidelines.
  • To be committed to personal, professional development.
  • To keep up to date with new legislation and practice development.

Whilst this job description gives an overview of the post, it is not exhaustive and the post holder will be expected to behave in a flexible manner and take on any other duties that may be reasonably delegated from time to time

Team Membership

  • To oversee the smooth running of the home in line with Ofsted requirements and The Children’s Home regulations including Quality Standards 2015.
  • To take the lead at Ofsted inspections
  • To support staff at all levels.
  • To revert to working a shift pattern as and when required by the company to ensure full staff cover at all times.
  • To compile relevant written reports for both internal and external organisations as required.
  • To organise, plan and prioritise effectively, delegating tasks as necessary to others in the team.
  • To ensure all team members are in receipt of regular meaningful supervision and annual Appraisals.

Administrative

  • Monitor and be responsible for all administration tasks in the home ensuring they are performed accurately.
  • To carry out specific tasks as delegated by the Operations Manager.
  • To monitor other staff members in carrying out their administrative duties, this includes month end/archiving and ensuring that all up to date paperwork is on file and ensure that requests are followed to chase professionals for any outstanding reports.
  • To be responsible for all administrative functions/operations in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • To ensure all Line Managers support the staff team in a manner which maximises their output and enables them to achieve their potential.
  • To contribute to the development of Keswick Care‘s practices.
  • To prepare an agenda and lead team meetings, disseminating information and give instruction of the outcomes of these meetings to the staff team.
