Referral procedure
The Initial referral will be taken by one of our management team with support of senior management. A full risk assessment will be based upon the essential information provided in respect of the young person being referred for example age, gender, presenting risks, exhibited behaviours and needs etc. All of these will be assessed prior to a placement being offered to ensure Keswick Care is the best placement for the young person to fulfil their full potential.
Within this assessment process we will ensure we consider the needs of young people that are already placed with us. We will make every effort to ensure that we would not place young people who had conflicting or incompatible needs. Wherever possible a pre-placement visit will take place to ascertain suitability and the young person’s views and wishes which is outlined in our statement of purpose.
Emergency placement
At Keswick Care we always aim for placements to be planned to ensure the young people are involved in this decision and their voice is heard. Keswick Care can accept emergency placements however careful consideration is still made and a thorough risk assessment in place given the information we have.
Emergency placements will only be accepted if; a room and appropriate facilities are available, a review can be facilitated in no less than seventy-two hours. Keswick Care consider the impact on current young people and also the young person needing an emergency placement, group dynamics are vital and need to be at the forefront of all decisions made.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding our young people is paramount. We’re proud to employ a team who will go that extra mile without hesitation to ensure the safety of the young people. Along with robust risk assessments our knowledge base is extensive. The team are provided with training opportunities that address current issues such as radicalisation, extremism, sexual and criminal exploitation including all the mandatory training that is required. We also have the gift of forward thinking; our aim is to see the risk both within the home and the community through a contextual lens and reduce these to safeguard children and young people.
